Microsoft seeks a Software Engineer II to build transformative AI-powered applications for education. This hybrid role requires UI engineering skills, a growing full-stack and AI mindset, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and accessible user experiences. You will contribute across the entire engineering lifecycle, from ideation to production, and explore emerging technologies and AI-assisted development tools.

Ansvarsområden

Build and ship frontier AI-powered experiences across Web, Windows, and Mobile.
Experiment with emerging AI technologies, models, agents, and new interaction patterns.
Create delightful, high-quality, responsive, accessible, and inclusive user experiences.
Design efficient, reusable front-end systems and architecture.
Collaborate with Product, Design, Applied Science, and engineering partners.
Own product features end to end, from discovery and prototyping through implementation, testing, experimentation, rollout, telemetry, production health, and iteration.
Build across the stack when the product requires it, including service and API integrations, data contracts, authentication, AI orchestration and grounding, experimentation, telemetry, and production diagnostics.
Use AI as part of the engineering workflow, applying AI-assisted tools and agentic development approaches.
Bring a frontier and growth mindset to the team, sharing ideas, learning quickly, challenging existing approaches, contributing to engineering excellence, and embodying Microsoft’s culture and values.

Krav

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: Required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

3+ years of software development experience developing web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework such as React.
Professional experience designing, developing, and shipping high-quality software.
Experience building responsive and accessible web applications using TypeScript, React, or similar technologies.
Experience developing object-oriented applications or services using C#, Java, C++, or a similar language.
Experience designing or integrating APIs and working with distributed cloud services.
Experience with public cloud services, including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, GitHub Copilot CLI, Claude Code, or comparable tools.
Ability to evaluate AI-generated output for correctness, maintainability, security, privacy, and licensing considerations and to apply appropriate human review before use.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in web applications or online services.
Effective written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
Discipline in applying modern software engineering practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and releasing.
