Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain mill equipment to ensure continuous operation.
- Set up equipment controllers for proper operation and parts programming.
- Perform roll tooling set ups and changeovers.
- Change press dies, cut off jaws, blades, and refill oil levels.
- Document downtime through a reporting system for KPI tracking.
- Communicate with coworkers to ensure continuous flow of mill operations and proper product tagging.
- React to schedule changes and conditions on the mill.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Focus on keeping the mill operational.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area (5S).
- Cross-train team members on parts programming and mill set ups.
- Perform TPM of process and equipment.
- Coordinate daily and weekly activities with the department supervisor.
- Perform visual and manual quality checks of finished products.
- Minimize scrap.
- Work with maintenance to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Requirements
- High School or GED Equivalent.
- Experience in using special measuring devices, calipers, and tape measure.
- Ability to navigate and set up equipment controllers for proper operation and parts programming.
- Roll tooling experience with set ups and change over.
- Ability to change out press dies, cut off jaws, blades, and refill oil levels of equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to meet negotiated time frames.
- Good Mechanical Aptitude.
- Forklift and overhead crane certification.
- Experience with Robot programming.
- Ability to document downtime through a seamless reporting system to drive KPI tracking.
- Good communication skills with coworkers.
- Ability to think and react to schedule changes and conditions on the mill.
- Ability to be a contributing and valued team member for continuous improvement activities.
