Cisco is seeking interns for Software Engineer roles in Network, Embedded, and Application Development for their Bengaluru, India office. Interns will contribute to critical infrastructure, focusing on areas like networking protocols, embedded systems, and cloud applications, while utilizing AI-assisted development workflows. This full-time, on-site internship requires a strong foundation in computer science principles and relevant programming languages.

Ansvarsområden

Develop, test, and refine software for platforms, including networking protocols, embedded systems, and scalable cloud applications.
Influence technical decisions, optimize system designs, and use AI-assisted workflows to streamline development.
Take ownership of projects, adapt to evolving challenges, and deliver high-quality, secure, and privacy-focused code.
Develop next-generation networking protocols and improve network performance and scalability.
Build scalable, high-impact cloud applications and create intuitive user experiences.
Work on low-level programming and embedded systems, building high-performance systems where software meets hardware.
Utilize AI tools to accelerate coding, automate testing, and improve code quality.
Engage in autonomous systems, task decomposition, and agentic development.

Krav

Strong grasp of Data Structures and Algorithms.
Academic foundation in TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
Proficiency in C or C++ with experience in multi-threading and socket programming.
Understanding of modern security frameworks, including firewalls, Zero Trust architecture, and encryption protocols (e.g., TLS).
Ability to use AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development and automate testing.
Proficiency in at least one major language (Java, Python, Go, or React).
Understanding of HTTP, RESTful APIs, and database concepts (SQL/NoSQL).
Ability to think critically about application scalability and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, with an interest in memory management and resource-constrained environments.
Understanding of OS internals, including processes, threads, memory management, and user/kernel space separation.
Exposure to microcontrollers, RTOS, device drivers, or hardware-software interfacing.
Active use of AI tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex) to accelerate coding, automate testing, and improve code quality.
Experience or strong interest in autonomous systems, including task decomposition, agentic development, and exposure to frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Solid conceptual understanding of Generative AI, including token usage, context windows, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), vector databases, and the basics of production engineering (guardrails, monitoring and scaling).
Master’s degree in Computer Science/Electronics (0 years of experience).

Önskade kvalifikationer

Experience with network simulation tools (e.g., Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3) or Wireshark is preferred.
Proven ability to resolve complex technical problems.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Self-motivated with a strong drive to achieve results.
