Microsoft seeks a Senior Data Center Technician for a fully on-site role. You will provide hands-on support for IT equipment including workstations, servers, and A/V systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Responsibilities include device deployment, inventory management, and ensuring system updates and security. The role involves a 12-hour shift schedule and up to 25% travel.

Ansvarsområden

Provide hands-on technical support for workstations, laptops, servers, and audio/visual systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
Deploy, maintain, and manage IT devices and spare parts inventory.
Ensure systems are updated with approved operating systems, security patches, and software.
Support equipment lifecycle activities and maintain secure IT services.
Participate in standard processes for installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of IT equipment.
Guide other technicians on process changes and review Process Change Notifications (PCNs).
Complete assigned tickets efficiently and assist less experienced technicians.
Reinforce a positive team environment by sharing information and best practices.
Comply with safety procedures, including completing Task Hazard Analyses (THAs) and using appropriate PPE.
Complete security and data management training and comply with related procedures.
Complete required training aligned to job focus areas and mentor other technicians.
Maintain awareness of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and escalate issues as needed.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of cross-functional Data Center processes.
Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startups and shutdowns for hardware.
Apply advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting expertise to identify and replace faulty components.
Perform quality control activities and assessment of work performed by other technicians.
Perform decommissions, simple changes (e.g., memory upgrades), complex changes (e.g., upgrading entire racks), and refreshes of infrastructure cabling, network, storage, and server equipment.
Process and verify compliance with standards for data-bearing device destruction.

Krav

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, or equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Authorization to work in the United States that does not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Önskade kvalifikationer

Associates Degree in Computer Science or other field and/or equivalent work experience.
3+ years experience supporting IT equipment (Networking Devices Experience) or related technology.
2+ years experience working in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 datacenter environment.
Applicable certifications: ASICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC), Data Center Foundation Certification (DCFC), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Vendor-Specific Network Certifications.
