Microsoft is seeking a Principal Product Manager for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Adoption & Key Management. This role involves defining PQC readiness metrics, driving cross-team adoption of quantum-safe cryptography, and owning the product strategy and roadmap for key management services. The ideal candidate will translate complex requirements into measurable progress and credible commitments for leadership, customers, and regulators.
Responsibilities
- Define PQC readiness and measurement, including outcome targets, KPIs, scorecards, telemetry requirements, and adoption bars across encryption in transit, PKI, and encryption at rest.
- Drive accountable cross-team results by using existing governance and reviews to address gaps or missed targets.
- Lead customer, field, compliance, and CELA engagement, presenting Microsoft's PQC direction and translating requirements into product priorities.
- Own the product roadmap and adoption narrative, publishing clear roadmaps and guidance.
- Support Key Management PQC readiness by partnering on strategy, roadmap decisions, and customer discussions across various key management services and platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years of experience in product/service/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Desired Qualifications
- Significant product-management experience in security, cloud infrastructure, cryptography, key management, identity, or compliance.
- Proven ability to define KPIs and drive measurable results across teams you do not directly manage.
- Customer-facing experience presenting technical roadmaps and translating requirements into product decisions.
- Strong product judgment translating standards, compliance obligations, and technical dependencies into priorities, sequencing, and tradeoffs.
- Clear executive communication and demonstrated influence across engineering, field, compliance, legal, policy, and governance teams.
- Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography, including ML-KEM, ML-DSA, hybrid transition patterns, or CNSA 2.0; cloud key management and HSMs; large-scale cryptographic migrations; and security governance or compliance programs.
Benefits
- Typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year.
- In San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
