As an Assistant Facilities Manager at Toppen Shopping Centre, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and compliance of high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems. This role requires you to act as the registered Chargeman BO, ensuring adherence to statutory regulations and supporting the Facilities Management team.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the registered Chargeman BO and ensure compliance with the Electricity Supply Act 1990, DOSH/JKKP, Fire Services Act, and other statutory regulations.
- Act as the Fire Safety Officer, supporting the Fire Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with Act 341 (BOMBA) requirements.
- Liaise with utilities providers and authorities including TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, BOMBA, DOSH, and local councils.
- Perform and supervise high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) switching operations, electrical isolation, and emergency responses.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and ensure timely rectification.
- Monitor and maintain electrical systems including main intake, generator sets, UPS, and solar systems.
- Lead and guide technical teams in safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Ensure proper operation of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and CMMS for reporting and maintenance tracking.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical systems and M&E infrastructure.
- Monitor and analyze energy consumption trends and recommend improvements.
- Supervise daily activities of technicians and monitor work quality.
- Prepare and review Bills of Quantity (BQ) and monitor contractor performance.
- Support Facilities Manager in infrastructure upgrades, operational projects, and tenant change requests.
- Manage defect rectification activities during the Defect Liability Period (DLP).
Requirements
- Valid Chargeman BO Certificate (33kV) issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga is mandatory.
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical disciplines is an added advantage.
- Registered as a Competent Person within the Energy Commission Online System.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in high-voltage systems, electrical infrastructure, and building M&E operations.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations, energy optimisation, preventive maintenance, and operational troubleshooting.
- Experience in retail property management or facilities operations environments is preferred.
- Familiar with CMMS/BAS systems, operational reporting, audit documentation, and authority procedures.
- Good understanding of statutory compliance requirements, operational risk management, and safety governance practices.
- Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (written and spoken).
- Strong networking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
