Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer to design and deliver AI-powered capabilities using LLMs, RAG, and semantic search. This role involves building retrieval-augmented generation solutions and applying AI-assisted development practices. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of technical experience are required.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver AI-powered capabilities using large language models (LLMs), with a focus on effective context management, reliability, and measurable customer value.
Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions using technologies such as Azure Cosmos DB and semantic search to provide relevant, grounded responses.
Apply AI-assisted and agentic development practices and tools to improve engineering productivity, quality, and delivery.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Desired Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Experience working on semantic search systems.
