We are seeking a Senior Technical Architect with extensive Java software engineering experience to design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise applications. The role involves providing technical leadership in Java, Spring, and Spring Boot, designing microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven solutions, and guiding engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Define end-to-end technical architecture and detailed solution designs.
Provide hands-on technical leadership across Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
Design REST APIs, microservices, event-driven and enterprise integration solutions.
Define application, API, integration, data and deployment architecture.
Guide engineering teams through implementation, code reviews and complex technical problem-solving.
Design solutions for security, performance, resilience, scalability and high availability.
Support containerised and cloud deployments using Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift and cloud platforms.
Establish engineering standards, reusable patterns and architecture decisions.
Work closely with Engineering, DevOps, Security, Product and Architecture teams.

Requirements

Minimum 10 years of hands-on Java software engineering experience.
Strong expertise in Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices and distributed systems.
Experience with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Apache Kafka or IBM MQ.
Strong SQL and relational database experience.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Good understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API security and secure coding practices.
Experience designing and delivering large-scale enterprise applications.
Strong understanding of performance, resilience, scalability, availability and maintainability.
Strong technical leadership, stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications

Banking or financial services experience.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Application modernisation and legacy transformation experience.
High-volume or real-time transaction processing.
API management and enterprise integration platforms.
