Volvo Cars seeks a Senior Environmental and Sustainability Specialist to coordinate environmental projects and minimize operational impact at the Ridgeville Facility. Responsibilities include managing emissions, waste, and implementing ISO 14001, with a focus on regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and maintain environmental protection activities and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all Volvo and State, Local and Federal Environmental Regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regulatory reporting activities to various local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Oversee the facilities waste contractor ensuring safety, regulatory compliance and cost efficiency.
  • Support plant environmental champions and provide guidance on environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Perform audits to ensure compliance throughout the facility.
  • Engage in continuous education on regulatory requirements.
  • Perform environmental training for employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field (experience may be substituted).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an environmental role in an automotive, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to utilize a PC to communicate, track trends, and retrieve relevant information.
  • Ability to speak credibly to authorities, environmental organizations, and/or other public groups.

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred certified Lead Auditor - ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of auto industry or similar manufacturing industry.
  • Project and time management skills.
