Job Description

As a Biomedical Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support to medical equipment users and managing medical equipment maintenance, calibration, and service onsite at theHospital. You will provide technical support to medical equipment users and troubleshoot to determine the cause of the problem and record results, identify changes in test methods or equipment as needed for medical equipment testing.  As a member of this team, you will take routine sensitivity, selectivity, and accurate measurements of medical equipment, maintain and calibrate medical equipment to industry standards, and perform preventative maintenance on assigned medical equipment.  You will also be responsible for performing safety inspections and initiating any necessary service while also performing various forms of service to general electronic and low-to-medium-risk medical equipment.


Supports technical activities such as test, check-out, repair and maintain medical equipment. Maintain accurate documentation in database. Ability to work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, of plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Perform operational test and electrical safety checks on equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Using test equipment to diagnose and repair medical equipment, including, but not limited to, multimeter, electrical safety analyzer and other specialized test apparatus.

Job Summary:  Performs complex functional, operational, and environmental tests to evaluate performance of military electronic components, assemblies, chassis and systems in accordance with engineering and customer requirements.  This position typically works under general supervision and direction.    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Reads and interprets schematics, logic diagrams and test procedures. Coordinates test failure reporting and corrective actions with Quality Assurance, Reliability Engineering, and immediate supervision. Interfaces with engineering personnel to resolve design and test procedure change issues. Develops and corrects test procedures related to engineering requirements and drawings. Assembles and disassembles test systems or deliverable equipment using basic hand tools.   Minimum Job Requirements: Two-year degree in electronics or equivalent military/civilian classes, plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience.  Requires thorough familiarity with test equipment.  Must understand the operation of and have experience setting up and using multi-meters, oscilloscopes, signal sources, spectrum and network analyzers and other types of test equipment.  Must have a good working knowledge of RF, analog and microwave circuits. Must be familiar with ISO 9001. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to follow written and verbal directions prioritize work, complete multiple tasks, work under deadlines, concentrate, and apply craft skills. Must possess an active Secret Clearance. Must have knowledge of and experience in handling cryptographic devices. Must be able to lift 40 lbs ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods, and climb stairs.
