Vocational Trainee: Paint (Spring 2027)

This vocational trainee position offers students hands-on experience in paint application and quality standards at Volvo Construction Equipment. You will learn to operate various equipment, apply different coatings, and ensure safety procedures are followed, contributing to sustainable transport solutions.

Responsibilities

Perform duties to achieve paint finishes that satisfy quality standards and engineering requirements.
Use and follow prescribed safety procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
Operate pressure washers and steam cleaners to remove contamination.
Apply masking to protect sensitive surfaces from paint.
Apply seam sealer to prevent leaks and rust.
Sand and grind to repair defects and apply filler as needed.
Set up paint for spraying, including mixing and adjusting pressures.
Set up, adjust, and maintain spray equipment.
Mix paint with hardener by hand for repairs and special colors.
Maintain a clean working area and follow 5S standards.
Inspect painted parts for defects and correct or escalate issues.
Detect and report faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual conditions.
Maintain a neat and orderly working area.
Interpret drawings and work instructions for paint quality and masking.

Requirements

Currently enrolled and pursuing a Paint-related field.
Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
At least 17 years of age.
