We are seeking a Technical Lead for the Analytics Area within the Data & Analytics team in Helsinki or Oulu, Finland. This full-time, permanent role involves leading a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop and enhance machine learning model pipelines, leveraging AWS SageMaker and integrating with data platforms like Snowflake. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader passionate about mentoring and bridging business needs with robust engineering practices for production ML models.

Responsibilities

Act as the technical authority for ML model pipeline capability, defining engineering standards and reference architectures.
Lead the design and hands-on development of end-to-end ML pipelines, including feature preparation, model evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
Enhance the ML platform on AWS SageMaker to reduce manual steps and improve speed, reliability, and repeatability.
Integrate model pipelines with Customer 360 data products and Snowflake, establishing reproducible feature datasets and training flows.
Implement model quality, observability, and governance practices, including drift detection, performance monitoring, and responsible AI.
Continuously identify and implement improvements to the team's engineering effectiveness, delivery flow, quality, and developer experience.
Partner with data scientists, engineers, architects, product owners, and stakeholders to align model delivery with Nordea's technology strategy.
Translate strategy into operational plans to create customer value and impact business priorities.
Empower team members by identifying development opportunities and encouraging idea sharing.
Drive performance by recognizing contributions and setting measurable goals.
Develop a dynamic team culture emphasizing trust and respect.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, or related technical fields.
At least 3 years leading engineering teams or acting as a Technical Lead in large-scale technology initiatives.
Strong proficiency in Python and production experience with modern engineering frameworks and libraries.
Experience with data processing, analytics, or machine learning tooling (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
Experience building, operating, and monitoring production-grade platforms (observability, reliability, automation, incident analysis).
Strong knowledge of AWS services (S3, IAM) and container or orchestration services.
Experience with infrastructure as code or CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to explain complex technical architectures and migration plans clearly to various stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications

Hands-on experience with AWS SageMaker, ML pipelines, model lifecycle management, or MLOps practices.
Strong understanding of Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Spark, and data products supporting analytics, feature engineering, or model development.
Experience with pseudonymization, responsible AI, data protection, model risk, and controls in a regulated environment.
