Microsoft is seeking Software Engineering Interns to collaborate on innovative software solutions, applying engineering principles to complex problems. Interns will gain experience in designing, developing, and testing next-generation software while working in a cooperative team environment.

Responsibilities

Apply engineering principles to solve complex problems.
Determine user requirements for features with stakeholders.
Learn and incorporate new engineering methods into work processes.
Seek feedback and apply best practices to improve technical solutions.
Demonstrate skill in time management and completing software projects in a cooperative team environment.
Review current developments and seek new knowledge to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.

Requirements

Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.
Programming experience in an object-oriented language.

Desired Qualifications

Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
Familiarity with Kubernetes, Operating Systems, Linux, Virtualization and IP Networking.
Ability to use development environments and tooling such as VSCode, Git, DevOps, and AI Agents / Copilot.
