In short
Responsibilities
- Champion a quality-first, automation-first engineering culture across pods working on different Informa business units.
- Institutionalize consistent coding, review, and design standards despite a heterogeneous, multi-stack estate.
- Drive DevSecOps adoption — CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and shift-left security — as a common baseline across divisions.
- Instill a data- and platform-first engineering discipline suited to subscription, content, and B2B SaaS products.
- Own end-to-end technical delivery for Informa's AD/Transformation workstreams across multiple business divisions.
- Set up architecture governance — design reviews, standards, and NFR sign-off — that scales across diverse tech stacks.
- Drive platform rationalization and cloud migration, reducing technology sprawl from prior acquisitions.
- Build reusable engineering frameworks and accelerators applicable across business units.
- Track and report engineering health metrics (velocity, defect leakage, deployment frequency, MTTR) to account leadership.
- Act as the primary engineering counterpart to Informa's technology and transformation leadership.
- Translate divisional transformation priorities into a coherent, account-wide engineering roadmap.
- Represent HCLTech in technical governance forums, steering committees, and architecture councils.
- Build trusted-advisor relationships that expand HCLTech's engineering footprint across Informa's divisions.
- Lead delivery from an offshore location, ensuring seamless collaboration with onshore/client stakeholders through structured governance, overlap hours, and communication cadences.
- Build, mentor, and retain engineering pods aligned to each supported business division.
- Define skilling plans and technical career paths across a broad, multi-technology environment.
- Foster ownership, continuous learning, and engineering craftsmanship across distributed teams.
- Drive adoption of platform engineering, data engineering, and GenAI-assisted SDLC practices.
- Lead pilots for tooling and accelerators that support M&A-driven platform integration.
- Contribute learnings back into HCLTech's engineering Centre of Excellence.
Requirements
- 16–20 years in IT with substantial experience in Application Development / Digital Transformation delivery.
- Proven track record leading engineering teams of 20+ engineers across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Strong hands-on engineering background across modern web/backend stacks (Java, .NET, Node.js, or similar).
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), microservices architecture, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Experience integrating or rationalizing diverse technology stacks, ideally following M&A activity.
- Working knowledge of data platforms — SQL/NoSQL databases, ETL/ELT pipelines — for subscription and content products.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across distributed, global business units.
- Solid grounding in Agile/Scaled Agile delivery models.
- Proven track record successfully leading offshore delivery pods for global/onshore clients, with strong asynchronous communication and governance discipline.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in publishing, B2B information services, events/exhibitions, or subscription-based digital products.
- Exposure to CMS, subscription/e-commerce platforms, or event-technology platforms.
- Experience supporting technology integration following mergers or acquisitions.
- Relevant certifications — cloud architect (AWS/Azure), TOGAF, SAFe, or equivalent.
- Exposure to AI/ML-assisted engineering productivity tools.
- Experience in a global delivery / GCC (Global Capability Center) model, with prior offshore leadership for UK/EU/global clients.
