Responsibilities
- Provide quality technical support in sales areas, on mine sites, and remotely.
- Participate in the commissioning of automation projects.
- Provide effective solutions to technical problems based on systematic failure analysis.
- Capture information from automation products and services, reporting findings and recommendations to customers.
- Assist customers in driving cost efficiencies and capital profit.
- Present training to internal and external customers.
- Provide OEM product support to customers.
- Management effective cost budget through initiating cost reduction measures.
- Develop and administer effective maintenance practices.
- Take responsibility for Environment, Health & Safety performance and management.
- Provide technical support to end-users, operators and service personnel.
- Ensure personal and career development of subordinates.
- Develop customer relationships and ensure customer loyalty.
- Investigate warranty claims proactively and reactively.
- Provide technical training to the service network.
- Liaise with Technical and Product support team.
- Adhere to all SMRT Policies and Procedures especially the SHEQ policies.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or good Trade Background with relevant equipment technical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Acquired knowledge in Automation operations in both surface and underground.
- Strong business sense and EHS focus.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and people management skills are essential.
- Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and other MS office applications.
- Experience with the SAP or other ERP systems is helpful.
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and provide guidance.
- Must be a smart worker who is self-motivated, performance-based outcomes orientated and needs no supervision.
- Good problem-solving and investigative abilities.
- Good commercial awareness and awareness of aftermarket opportunities.
- Good planning and organization.
- Familiarity with the regions of West Africa that are traveled.
- Strong ability to operate effectively under pressure and deal with emergency breakdowns.
