This role is for a Sr Engineer / Assistant Manager in Commodity based in Pune, India. The primary responsibilities include developing new global suppliers, managing supply chain matrices, driving cost savings through negotiation and strategic sourcing, and improving supplier capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 5-8 years of experience in supplier development and management.

Ansvarsområden

Identify and develop new, key global casting, machining, and other commodity suppliers in India.
Provide regionalization and risk mitigation, sourcing input to ensure surety of material supplies.
Actively pursue cost savings via negotiation, consolidation, leverage, and e-sourcing tools.
Drive global supply chain matrices including quality, speed, and cost.
Achieve supplier quality, delivery, lead time, and cost performance goals.
Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to support business and operational requirements.
Drive supplier capability improvements in quality, delivery, capacity, and cost competitiveness.
Support in resolving supplier's supply chain related problems and improve supplier manufacturing and business processes.
Identify, research, and implement new materials and manufacturing technologies.
Lead supplier development and align with key internal/global stakeholders.
Participate in division/corporate programs like NMI, DPO, Best Cost Country sourcing, Direct Buy initiatives, Reverse Auctions, Corporate negotiations, Inflation Model, Parts Analysis & Contract management.
Support world area sites by providing pricing data, lead-times, samples, catalogues, new designs, and market trends.
Confer with Quality Assurance, Development Engineering, and Marketing to clarify specifications and assure an accurate understanding of project requirements.
Establish and maintain rapport with critical suppliers to assure a high level of focus on total quality and cost effectiveness.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business priorities and drive key improvement matrices.
Participate in key projects/initiatives to drive opportunities for improvement across the Supply Chain.
Plan and conduct regular business reviews with Key Suppliers.
Provide management with regular recommendations/updates on commodity matrices performance & related commodity strategies.
Assist tactical buyers with problem resolution and provide procedural guidance.

Krav

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
5-8 years of experience in supplier development & management.
Experience in commodities like castings, Forging, Machining commodities.
Strong technical skills and good understanding of manufacturing processes of Casting, Machining, Forging, Metal Forming.
Familiarity with cost estimation and strong negotiation skills.
Comfortable functioning in a highly matrixed organization.
Excellent project management skills from strategic sourcing to operational execution.
Proficiency in spoken and written English & MS office tools.
