Microsoft Quantum is looking for a Senior Packaging Engineer to develop and maintain robust assembly processes for quantum devices. This role involves working with external vendors, evaluating packaging suppliers, and supporting advanced packaging technologies, requiring a Master's degree in a relevant engineering field and 3+ years of experience or equivalent.

Ansvarsområden

Develop and maintain robust assembly processes for quantum devices.
Document processes and implementation across our global team.
Drive external packaging material vendors to leverage existing supply chains to deliver solutions needed for packaging of quantum devices.
Evaluate external packaging suppliers as scaling partners.
Develop and implement test equipment and processes for evaluating packaging solutions.
Support development of advanced packaging technologies.
Work in teams or independently as required.

Krav

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Role requires access to export-controlled information and will require verification of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency or other protected status.
Verification of citizenship with a valid passport will be required.

Experience with industry standard packaging materials and processes.
Experience in cryogenic materials.
Experience in microwave device packaging.
Ability to leverage AI tools to drive innovation and efficiency, e.g., performance modeling and analysis, research gathering, day-to-day task automation.
Evaluate agentic solutions with measurable metrics and human-in-the-loop safeguards following Microsoft Responsible AI requirements for generative AI.

Typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
Specific range for San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
