Synopsys is looking for a Senior Application Engineer in Shanghai to work on RTL-to-GDSII digital implementation for high-performance compute designs. You will deploy and optimize implementation flows, debug issues, and collaborate with customers and R&D teams to ensure successful tape-outs and product improvements.

Ansvarsområden

Drive technical engagements with customers across Asia-Pacific on high-performance compute designs (Arm, RISC-V CPUs, GPUs, DSPs) using advanced nodes (7nm to 3nm).
Deploy and optimize Fusion Compiler implementation flows to solve PPA challenges (synthesis, place-and-route, signoff closure).
Develop and debug RTL-to-GDSII methodologies with customer design teams, identifying and solving bottlenecks in timing, power, and area.
Reproduce customer design issues, isolate root causes (design vs. tool), and provide actionable solutions.
Translate customer findings into enhancement requests for Synopsys R&D.
Enable customer migration to new EDA tool versions by validating flows and benchmarking PPA results.
Act as the customer advocate internally and the Synopsys product expert externally.

Krav

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
3+ years of hands-on experience in digital design or EDA applications.
Direct experience with synthesis and physical implementation flows (place-and-route, timing closure, signoff on real designs).
Strong debugging skills across the RTL-to-GDSII flow.
Proficiency in scripting with Tcl, Unix shell, or Perl.
Ability to manage technical projects from scoping through delivery.
Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin.

Experience with Synopsys synthesis or implementation tools such as Fusion Compiler, Design Compiler, or IC Compiler is a strong plus.
Self-motivated and proactive in investigating gaps or recurring customer questions.
Ability to take a vague customer complaint and turn it into a structured debug plan.
Comfortable presenting technical content to customer teams.
Ability to push back on customer requests or R&D proposals that do not make technical sense.
Treat customer data with care and urgency.
Ability to context-switch between multiple customer engagements without losing track of commitments.
Keep stakeholders updated without being asked.
