Alfa Laval is seeking a 1st Shift Warehouse Worker for their Richmond manufacturing facility. This full-time role involves material handling, picking, staging, and delivery, operating forklifts and other equipment, and adhering to safety and operational procedures. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience in warehousing or manufacturing and forklift operation.
Responsibilities
- Execute material handling, picking, staging, replenishment, and delivery activities.
- Coordinate with Team Leader and Inventory Control to resolve material flow and inventory discrepancies.
- Report deviations including safety, quality, parts, equipment, or delivery issues.
- Cross-train in multiple production lines for flexible support.
- Participate in Daily Status Board Meetings, explaining deviations and proposing solutions.
- Review and suggest improvements for Standard Operating Procedures.
- Identify and eliminate waste (time, motion, transportation, inventory) and drive continuous improvements.
- Engage in daily & weekly 5S routines.
- Utilize downtime for learning new processes and running improvements.
- Conduct oneself with professionalism, courtesy, and cooperation.
- Safely operate forklifts, order pickers/manlifts, and reach trucks.
- Maintain full compliance with all Alfa Laval policies and procedures.
- Perform timely and accurate material picks, replenishment, and delivery.
- Verify material, quantities, and locations before movement; report shortages or damage.
- Maintain orderly staging areas and support material flow between warehouse and production.
- Accurate and consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in materials, warehousing, or manufacturing.
- 2+ years of experience operating forklifts.
- Basic desktop computer and handheld scanner skills.
- Basic math skills, including ability to read a tape measure.
- Must wear required PPE: steel toe boots, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves/sleeves.
Desired Qualifications
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Prior manufacturing and material handling experience preferred.
