Saab is looking for a Production Supervisor for its advanced manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, Indiana. This role involves leading a production team in building the aft fuselage of the T-7A Red Hawk, with opportunities to develop people, improve processes, and establish a high-performance operation. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of supervisory experience in the aerospace industry and experience with AS9100/ISO environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily production operations for advanced aero-structure manufacturing, setting expectations and driving the team toward production goals (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale).
- Build and develop the team through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance feedback.
- Create a culture of accountability, urgency, and teamwork, empowering employees to take ownership of KPIs, quality, and business goals.
- Champion safety and quality, ensuring compliance with established processes, work rules, and FOD-prevention and tool control practices.
- Monitor production performance, communicate progress, and deploy recovery/contingency plans to maintain master schedule adherence.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to eliminate waste, improve processes, and increase efficiency.
- Collaborate with management, production teams, engineering, quality, and other support functions to solve problems and maintain product flow.
- Support recruiting, selection, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, high-performing work environment through Saab’s 6S program.
- Manage production team time and attendance, including reviewing and approving work hours.
- Consistently demonstrate Saab’s core values of Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of proven supervisory/people leadership experience within the aerospace industry
- Experience in an AS9100 or ISO environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Experience using MES and ERP systems
- Proven ability to work effectively across departments, and align on business objectives and key results
- Ability to lead by example, to build positive and productive work relationships
- Experience driving performance and behavioral accountability
- Availability to work a flexible/extended schedule as needed to meet customer timelines
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Desired Qualifications
- AS or BS degree in Operations Management, Advanced Manufacturing, Aeronautics, or a related field
- Experience working in a union environment
- Familiar with new product introduction
