Synopsys is seeking an experienced Sr. Cybersecurity Corporate Counsel to advise on cybersecurity incidents, regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, assessing legal obligations, and negotiating security provisions in agreements for a global technology company.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal advisor during cybersecurity incidents, coordinating with Information Security, Privacy, Compliance, and business teams.
- Assess legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations arising from incidents, including notification requirements.
- Advise on investigation and forensic-response processes, including privilege preservation and vendor engagement.
- Provide legal guidance on U.S. and international cybersecurity laws and breach-notification requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate cybersecurity, information security, privacy, and data-protection provisions in agreements.
- Partner with technical and compliance experts to translate security capabilities into contract language and negotiation strategies.
- Support cybersecurity governance and compliance initiatives.
- Provide day-to-day counseling on cybersecurity, data protection, and technology risks.
- Collaborate across Legal, Information Security, Privacy, Engineering, and other functions.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- Eight to ten years of legal experience, with a substantial part focused on cybersecurity matters.
- Significant experience advising on cybersecurity incident response, forensic investigations, and breach-notification analysis.
- Experience interpreting and applying U.S. and international cybersecurity, data-protection, and incident-response requirements.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating cybersecurity, information security, privacy, and data-protection provisions in customer and vendor agreements.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, information security practices, cloud environments, data governance, and security frameworks.
- Ability to independently manage complex, time-sensitive legal matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, Refugee, or other protected individual).
Desired Qualifications
- Experience advising a global technology company, whether in-house or in private practice, is strongly preferred.
- Experience with semiconductor, software, SaaS, cloud, AI, or other technology businesses is a plus.
