The Alexa Shopping team in Bangalore is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead AI-powered shopping experience development. This role involves leading a team to build features that anticipate customer needs, evaluate products, and unify communications across devices, impacting millions of customers worldwide.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow a software development team, setting technical direction and team structure for a multi-year roadmap for the Post-Purchase experience.
Define and drive the architecture for distributed, low-latency services at massive scale for real-time tracking and post-delivery experiences.
Partner with product management, applied science, and peer engineering teams to prioritize features and ship cohesive solutions.
Establish operational metrics and quality mechanisms to measure customer experience and system health.
Coach and develop engineers across multiple levels, creating growth plans and building an inclusive team culture.

Requirements

3+ years of engineering team management experience.
7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science.
3+ years of distributed system management experience.
Experience using English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in developing and executing an analytic vision to solve business-relevant problems.
Deep hands-on technical expertise.
