Responsibilities

Design and develop systems for Amazon's businesses.
Model things, figure out right abstraction levels, and make judgement calls around design trade-offs.
Innovate new ideas and provide directions to the business.
Drive best practices and mentor other engineers.
Drive continuous improvements in engineering and operational excellence.
Use cutting-edge technology to solve complex problems.
Build robust engineering platforms to solve high impact issues.
Train new team-mates on software construction, operation, security, and its place in the bigger picture.
Invent, design, and build stable and performant software.
Participate in code review process, design discussions, team planning, and ticket/metric reviews.
Focus on operational excellence, identifying problems and proposing solutions.
Take on projects and make software enhancements that improve team software and processes.

Requirements

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.

Desired Qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
