Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) is seeking a Senior Manager, Design Engineering - India to lead a multidisciplinary team in designing critical data center infrastructure. This role involves driving innovation, improving design delivery, managing design budgets, and engaging with external partners and regulatory bodies to ensure high-quality, sustainable, and cost-effective data center solutions across India.

Responsibilities

Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers in the design of critical data center infrastructure systems across India.
Chair weekly design meetings with internal engineering teams, internal customers, and external consultants to resolve design issues and keep milestones on track.
Drive process improvements across design delivery and create/track metrics on cost, quality, and duration of design.
Establish capital project design budgets and contribute to business cases for new AWS Region deployments in India.
Partner with internal customers to establish project scope, schedule, and deliverables.
Engage with industry bodies, standards committees, and regulatory agencies on technical matters relating to data center development.
Own design document control, including the document controller's workflow and audits of deliverables.
Lead weekly staff and project readiness meetings with stakeholder teams.
Drive best practices, deal with ambiguity, and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
Identify continuous improvement strategies for project phases including due diligence, planning, design, permitting, and construction.
Report on development, quality, operations, and performance to management.
Write effective narratives and present them concisely and effectively to Directors and VPs.
Establish a mature team optimized for operational excellence.
Have joint managerial oversight of Architects, Electrical, Mechanical, Colo, Structural, Controls, and Field Engineers in India.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Structural Engineering or equivalent field.
10+ years of data center design, HVAC design, or related product development experience.
Experience leading multidisciplinary design across electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, and controls disciplines on large-scale capital projects.
Experience managing design budgets, schedules, and delivery teams comprising internal resources supplemented with external design consultants.

Desired Qualifications

Experience defining data center system-level architecture, documenting performance and equipment requirements, creating and communicating conceptual designs, and creating and maintaining project documentation.
Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
Experience engaging industry bodies, standards or building code committees, regulators or government agencies on technical matters, e.g., Bureau of Indian Standards committees, including the National Building Code.
