Microsoft Security is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and develop a new exabyte-scale security data platform. This hybrid role involves tackling complex distributed systems and data challenges using cutting-edge technologies to enhance organizational visibility and control in digital environments.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements.
Design, develop, and deliver scalable software solutions for a high-performance data platform processing large volumes of security data.
Contribute to the architecture and technical design of services for data ingestion, processing, storage, and analysis.
Build reliable and efficient distributed systems operating at exabyte scale.
Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Incorporate customer feedback and insights into future designs and solution fixes.
Ensure continuous feedback loops measuring customer value and usage patterns are incorporated.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Desired Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, or Python, OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
Experience designing, building, or operating scalable distributed systems, data platforms, or large-scale cloud services.
Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Knowledge of security principles and challenges associated with securing large-scale, distributed systems.
Experience developing or operating high-scale, mission-critical software-as-a-service (SaaS) products or services.
Experience with security data, large-scale data processing, logging, telemetry, monitoring, or related data platforms.
Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed system design.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions.

Benefits

Base pay range of USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year (US, excluding specific high-cost areas).
Higher base pay range of USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year for San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
