Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve highly scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems.
- Lead the technical design and architecture of complex product features and services.
- Partner with Product Management, Data Science, Engineering, and Platform teams to define strategy and requirements.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of critical projects.
- Use telemetry, A/B experimentation, and customer insights to improve product health and customer experience.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Influence technical direction across multiple teams and contribute to platform-wide architectural decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years' experience in building scalable, secure, high-performance products and services on the backend.
- Technical design, problem solving and debugging skills, proven track record in shipping software on time, with high quality.
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive complex technical initiatives from concept to production.
- Knowledge of Distributed systems design, Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar cloud computing platforms.
- Knowledge of modern web technologies, service-oriented architectures, observability, reliability engineering, and data-driven development.
- Experience with data-intensive applications and AI/ML-enabled products.
- Experience in online advertising, search, e-commerce, or large-scale consumer products is a plus.
Benefits
- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
- For specific work locations, including San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
