Alfa Laval is seeking an HSS Mechanic - Team Lead for their Greenwood, IN location. This full-time, on-site role involves coordinating daily team work, leading by example in safety, quality, and delivery, and performing equipment repair and maintenance, including precision machining.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and support the daily work of the team.
Lead the team according to priorities of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Perform equipment receipt, uncrating, cleaning, stripping, and teardown of units.
Inspect, repair, service, test, and package equipment following company policies and quality standards.
Evaluate and estimate repair costs, time, and materials needed for assemblies.
Follow quality plans to repair products.
Diagnose and correct mechanical functions using various tools and approved repair methods.
Set up and operate test stands and related equipment.
Record written test results on appropriate test documents.
Paint, pack, crate, and document shipment of units, parts, and materials.
Move material within the shop using forklifts, cranes, etc.
Recognize and communicate the need for replenishment of supplies, tools, and parts.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to 5S guidelines.
Set up and balance rotating equipment using approved balancing methods.
Reconstruct parts using manual machining equipment and mechanical machinist/engineering principles.
Determine dimensions and tolerances for machining.
Plan, set up, and execute assignments using machine tools such as drills, lathes, and milling machines.
Independently identify, select, and adjust tools, jaws, and fixtures.
Utilize precision measuring instruments to check accuracy.
May perform field service work occasionally.

Requirements

Machinist Certification
High school degree or equivalent
Experience operating forklift trucks, hand pallet jacks, and overhead cranes.

Desired Qualifications

Typically 2-3 years in a machine shop/manual repair environment (preferred).
Experience with vibration analyzing/balancing equipment (a plus).
Machine shop training in mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout, machining procedures, and complicated blueprints/drawings (preferred).
Precision machining with experience in setting up and operating machine shop equipment, such as lathes, mills, and drill presses (preferred).
