As an HR Generalist, you will implement policies and programs for talent attraction and retention at a manufacturing facility, focusing on employee engagement, safety, benefits, FMLA, and employee relations. You will partner with internal customers to provide HR support and advice on business strategies and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Provide HR representation and input on employee coaching, conduct, corrective action, policy interpretation, employment practices, and complaint resolutions.
- Research and respond to employee concerns, investigate claims, document findings, and recommend resolutions across all shifts.
- Advise management on organizational issues, positive work environment, high-performance culture, and ethical guidelines.
- Analyze trends and metrics to improve turnover, retention, and employee engagement.
- Administer and update HR policies and practices in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Participate in and lead company communication meetings and department meetings, providing HR guidance.
- Provide counsel on benefits, disability, parental leave, and FMLA, handling related administrative duties.
- Lead the site's internship/co-op program and participate in career fairs.
- Partner with Maintenance and Production departments on apprenticeship programs.
- Lead new employee onboarding and offboarding processes, identifying areas for improvement.
- Support the employee opinion survey process and action plans.
- Lead and maintain employee engagement, wellness, and volunteer activities.
- Enforce policy and safety procedures, conduct safety audits, and engage employees in hazard identification.
- Support ad hoc projects including writing job descriptions, managing exit interviews, and coordinating training.
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management and regulatory compliance.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience required.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or similar industry.
- Strong Microsoft suite skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization (Hourly to C-Suite), both written and verbal.
- Decisive and confident, open and candid with the ability to energize others.
- Knowledge of employment laws and legal compliance.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of payroll systems preferred.
- Previous experience in managing employee leaves (FMLA, STD/LTD, etc.).
