Vattenfall seeks an experienced Head of Consenting HUB 1 to lead offshore wind consenting teams in Denmark, Sweden, and the UK. This hybrid role involves people leadership, technical expertise, and strategic influence to secure and manage project consents in a complex international environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Consent Managers across Denmark, Sweden, and the UK.
- Oversee consenting delivery across the Hub 1 portfolio, including prioritization and resource allocation.
- Support the development and implementation of consenting strategies for major offshore wind projects.
- Provide guidance on complex regulatory, environmental, stakeholder, and commercial challenges.
- Collaborate with Hub 2 leadership to establish consistent ways of working across markets.
- Contribute to organizational development, succession planning, and capability building within the consenting function.
- Provide consenting input to portfolio strategy, opportunity assessment, and business development.
Requirements
- Experience with offshore wind, large-scale infrastructure, energy, or another highly regulated industry.
- Expertise in offshore wind consenting, permitting, or comparable regulatory frameworks (ideally in Denmark, Sweden, UK, or similar markets).
- Experience with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), or similar environmental assessment processes.
- Experience developing and implementing strategies within complex regulatory and project environments.
- Proven ability to build productive relationships with regulators, authorities, stakeholders, and project partners.
- Experience leading programs, managing budgets, consultants, risks, and key project milestones.
- Experience supporting consent compliance during construction and operations.
- Strong people leadership skills, including engaging, coaching, and developing specialists.
- Comfortable balancing strategic priorities with operational needs.
- Ability to effectively navigate complex stakeholder landscapes.
- Degree in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Geography, Planning, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years of relevant professional experience, including substantial offshore wind consenting experience.
- Experience delivering major infrastructure consent applications.
- Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong practical knowledge of EIA and HRA processes.
- Experience managing complex consenting programs, consultants, budgets, risks, and project interfaces.
- Strong stakeholder and regulator management experience.
- Experience working across different phases of the offshore wind project lifecycle or comparable projects.
- Strong strategic, commercial, and organizational judgment within an international and multidisciplinary organization.
