Responsibilities
- Assist with daily cash application activities, including accurate payment posting, processing NSF chargebacks, and ensuring appropriate general ledger coding.
- Support the preparation and completion of bank and general ledger reconciliations to help maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Assist with monthly account reconciliations by comparing general ledger balances with supporting operational or subledger information.
- Investigate and analyze financial discrepancies, identify potential root causes, and work with team members to support timely resolution.
- Support month-end close activities, including preparing reconciliation schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and reviewing financial information for accuracy and completeness.
- Support the identification of opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and increase efficiency.
- Contribute to projects involving process standardization, data validation, and automation of recurring accounting and reporting activities.
Requirements
- Actively enrolled in a college or university program in Accounting and Finance.
- An interest in accounting, financial operations, financial analysis, and business process improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify potential solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy when working with financial information.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with spreadsheets, formulas, and structured data.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SQL, or other data analysis and visualization tools would be considered an asset.
