Compiler Toolchain Engineer
Technology, Data & Digital · Software & Web Development · Software Engineering
In short
As a Compiler Toolchain Engineer at Qualcomm, you will leverage advanced knowledge of software development, processor architecture, and debugging techniques to enhance application domains for mobile and compute products. You will design and develop industry-standard tools and compiler toolchains (e.g., LLVM, GCC, MLIR) to ensure efficient code compilation onto hardware architectures.
Responsibilities
- Leverage advanced knowledge of software development, processor architecture (e.g., DSP, CPU, NSP, microcontroller), debugging and recovery techniques, and systems concepts to enhance application domains for mobile and compute products.
- Incorporate complex features into programming tools to assist software developers in implementing, debugging, and optimizing code running on programmable cores.
- Design and develop advanced industry standard tools (e.g., debuggers, linkers, profilers, converters, optimizers).
- Build complex bit-exact functional or timing-accurate simulators to enable off-target execution of software.
- Synthesize and run benchmarks for complex applications; analyze data to provide feedback for performance, power optimizations, and constraint management.
- Design and write the compiler toolchain (e.g., LLVM, GCC, MLIR, Halide, TVM) to ensure efficient compilation of code onto the hardware architecture.
- Leverage advanced mathematical techniques for programming languages, algorithms, and optimization to enable tools to robustly provide performance and power efficiency for hardware products.
- Apply advanced Intermediate Representation of programs to expose opportunities for program optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
- OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
- OR PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
- 2+ years of any combination of academic and/or work experience with compiler or tools.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Benefits
- Competitive annual discretionary bonus program
- Opportunity for annual RSU grants
- Highly competitive benefits package designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play
