As a Buyer in New Hudson, US, you will implement purchasing strategies, select vendors, negotiate prices, and issue purchase orders. Responsibilities

  • Implement purchasing strategies, including vendor selection, capability assessment, and performance evaluation.
  • Evaluate purchase requisitions, negotiate prices, and issue purchase orders.
  • Plan, develop, and buy materials, parts, and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain request for quotes.
  • Resolve contract issues and disputes.
  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.
  • Research and report commodity changes and trends.
  • Maintain approved supplier and qualified bidders records.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage cross-functional relationships with Operations, Accounting, Finance, Legal, and Planning departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with contract negotiations, including pricing, terms and conditions, and purchasing policies.
  • Ability to analyze situations, set/adjust priorities, and use sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and project management skills.
  • Ability to organize data and make presentations to support decision-making.
  • Ability to understand the basics of drawings for specific parts.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Computer literacy with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems, specifically SYSPRO.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply commodity strategies and cost models.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent directly related work experience in business, finance, engineering, or other related field.
  • 2+ years of work experience in a purchasing department or closely related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in Category Management, preferred.
