Sandvik Mining is looking for an Apprentice Workshop Technician in Sudbury, ON to perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment. This role requires a technical diploma and is ideal for apprentices in automotive, truck & coach, or heavy-duty equipment mechanic fields.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical aspects of Sandvik equipment and components.
- Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
- Repair/replace defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
- Complete accurate time records, technical reports, and failure reports.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with industry, customer, and product developments.
- Comply with SMRT safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Identify and report any unsafe work habits, incidents, or near misses.
- Maintain hand tools and equipment for safe operation.
- Maintain an orderly work area and ensure housekeeping requirements are met.
Requirements
- Technical (Mechanical) diploma is required.
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience is an asset.
- Previous experience with Sandvik equipment is considered an asset.
- Automotive, truck & coach or heavy-duty equipment experience is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to read/comprehend related schematics.
- Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible and self-motivated with demonstrated initiative.
- Ability to develop knowledge of customer business processes in relation to product rebuilds.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook).
