Sandvik Mining is looking for an Apprentice Workshop Technician in Sudbury, ON to perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment. This role requires a technical diploma and is ideal for apprentices in automotive, truck & coach, or heavy-duty equipment mechanic fields.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical aspects of Sandvik equipment and components.
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
  • Repair/replace defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
  • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, and failure reports.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry, customer, and product developments.
  • Comply with SMRT safety policies and applicable regulations.
  • Identify and report any unsafe work habits, incidents, or near misses.
  • Maintain hand tools and equipment for safe operation.
  • Maintain an orderly work area and ensure housekeeping requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Technical (Mechanical) diploma is required.
  • Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Sandvik equipment is considered an asset.
  • Automotive, truck & coach or heavy-duty equipment experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to read/comprehend related schematics.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and self-motivated with demonstrated initiative.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of customer business processes in relation to product rebuilds.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook).
