Responsibilities
- Attend project conference calls to address specialized topics.
- Analyze information for policy, procedure, and form documentation.
- Determine user needs for technical documentation.
- Develop, write, and support end-user documentation for software and hardware.
- Write supporting content for new and existing products.
- Write end-user documentation for a multi-disciplined and multi-cultural audience.
- Work in DITA CMS for new and existing documentation.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work.
- Maintain a library of application documentation.
- Follow Emerson's standard processes for writing style, format, and content.
- Explore technical products and create audience-focused documents.
- Drive the review and approval of technical content within the document management system.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience or a master’s degree and 3+ year of relevant experience.
- Exceptional English writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in writing technical documents.
- Ability to develop product understanding by working closely with product developers in an Agile development environment.
- Ability to design and organize document structure.
- Interest in hands-on installation, configuration and use of the software.
- Understanding of accepted technical writing style conventions.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects and monitor progress with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong research skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with modular documentation (e.g., DITA XML) and DITA component content management systems.
- Experience working with large Microsoft Word documents and Adobe Suits.
- Desire to seek continuous improvements and innovation.
- Experience in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated internships in technical writing/information development.
- Knowledge of Industrial Controls (e.g., DCS or PLCs).
