Qualcomm seeks a Staff Engineer to lead the functional safety architecture for ADAS/Autonomy SoCs in Bangalore, India. This role involves defining safety concepts, requirements, and processes according to ISO26262 and SOTIF standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers.

Responsibilities

Lead functional safety initiatives for complex SoC software.
Collaborate with development teams, partners, and customers on functional safety tasks.
Engage in external/customer safety discussions, audits, and support corrective actions.
Maintain expertise in automotive functional safety practices and drive timely gap closure.
Enhance software processes and outputs to meet safety standards.
Manage functional safety and architecture frameworks in automotive contexts.
Define safety software architecture and requirements.
Develop and implement robust safety plans.
Ensure strict adherence to ISO26262 and ASPICE standards.
Lead ADAS solution level functional safety Architecture.
Define the Safety Concept and Architecture of ADAS solution, Software Safety requirements.
Define and deploy safety processes and development of Safety software by following the ISO26262, SOTIF and related software processes.
Interact with customers, architects and test/integration teams.
Work with the safety managers and Software quality team for adherence of ISO26262/SOTIF/ASPICE processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop ADAS/AD solutions.
Provide direct support to Qualcomm customers and partner with the design, development and debug of Qualcomm reference designs SW related issues.
Help customize/optimize software to meet the product requirements using the features in Qualcomm SOC.
Ramp-up onto an existing project, understand Automotive platform Hardware and Software driver architecture, read/write technical specifications/requirements.
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Work closely with external customers to customize and launch their new products.
Create clear technical documentation for designs, code, and test procedures.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to enable software stack on silicon and emulation platforms, debug hardware-software interactions, and ensure seamless integration.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
10-15 years of industry experience in Systems, Embedded Software, and Safety Engineering in in the automotive domain.
2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Strong Software Engineer with good knowledge and hands-on experience in Design/Development/Debugging aspects of Board support package (BSP) on one or more of operating systems like Linux, Android, Greenhills Integrity and QNX embedded systems.
Experience with Linux Android, QNX and Hypervisors Real-time operating systems.
Working Experience with device drivers, stability, system architecture.
Experience with USB, UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet.
Good understanding of hardware blocks - Clocks, PLLs, GPIO, Interrupt Controllers (GIC), and their SW architecture for porting and debugging.
Experience in using debugging tools such as JTAG, and oscilloscope/Logical Analyzer.
Deep understanding of ARM architecture.
Experience with System performance profiling and optimization.
Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
Experience in functional safety software architecture in Automotive Domain: Safety software architecture specification, Safety Requirements definition, safety software development.
Good understanding of functional safety software process, especially ISO26262 part-6.
Experience in Safety Analysis (FMEA, DFA, FTA).
Experience in defining Software architecture, Software Design, and implementation of Embedded software for Automotive SoCs.
Good understanding of SoC architecture, ARM architecture, SoC Peripherals, low level BSP Software/drivers, RTOS.
Knowledge and experience of ASPICE /ISO26262 or equivalent Quality standards.
Knowledge of various tools and methods related for functional safety/ISO26262 (Requirements Management, Static/dynamic analysis, Safety Analysis, Safety software design, implementation, and testing).
2+ years of experience with debugging techniques.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with tools for static analysis, code coverage.
