Responsibilities
- Prepare, install, diagnose, troubleshoot, replace, and decommission IT datacenter technology and equipment.
- Understand the functions and interactions of network, server, and storage equipment.
- Review Process Change Notifications and provide feedback on process modifications.
- Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with KPIs.
- Provide guidance to less experienced technicians and escalate complex issues.
- Comply with Data Center policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Complete required security, data management, and EHS training.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and promote a culture of safety.
- Escort third-party vendors and enforce security requirements.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing information and feedback.
- Develop an understanding of cross-functional Data Center processes.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical issues with minimal disruption.
- Directly perform decommissions, simple changes, and refreshes of infrastructure equipment.
- Process data-bearing devices for destruction in accordance with security protocols.
- Communicate, report, and escalate technical, safety, or security incidents.
- Perform post-execution verification of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling.
- Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startups and shutdowns for hardware.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
- 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
- Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Verification of citizenship required due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
- Authorization to work in the United States that does not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience working in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 datacenter environment.
- Applicable certifications: ASICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC), Data Center Foundation Certification (DCFC), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Vendor-Specific Network Certifications.
