Responsibilities
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities in accordance with ASSA ABLOY Group reporting requirements.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial statements.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and proactively resolve outstanding items.
- Support the preparation of monthly management reporting and financial analysis.
- Assist the Finance Manager in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Ensure compliance with Portuguese accounting, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities.
- Prepare and review VAT, Intrastat, and other regulatory filings.
- Monitor internal controls and support compliance with Group policies and procedures.
- Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities.
- Participate in regional and global finance projects.
- Support business stakeholders by providing accurate and timely financial information.
- Contribute to maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and financial discipline.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance roles.
- Experience with Portuguese accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team approach.
- Fluent Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Accountant (OCC) or working towards a professional accounting qualification is desirable.
- Experience in a multinational environment is highly desirable.
