Responsibilities

  • Drive customer order execution according to plan and priorities: sustainability, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Supervise employees engaged in the production process of air-cooled heat exchangers.
  • Monitor employee performance and coordinate workflow for shop efficiency.
  • Set and follow up on targets for Manufacturing in Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
  • Review production schedules and coordinate production set-up.
  • Operate as a team within the shop and with other support functions for on-time deliveries.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement, leading 5S initiatives, and performance/output of manufacturing teams.
  • Oversee team member development, hiring, and ensure compliance with legal and equal opportunity standards.
  • Develop new employee operational training plans.
  • Deliver Team Member performance reviews, counseling, discipline, and wage increase recommendations.
  • Assure compliance with Alfa Laval policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive analysis for improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Resolve customer claims and drive process improvements to prevent future claims.
  • Define and communicate work assignments, monitor progress, and address issues.
  • Assess and communicate staffing, equipment, and outsourcing needs.
  • Eliminate waste and reduce manufacturing costs, ensuring effective utilization of personnel and equipment.
  • Oversee team equipment, including correct usage and preventative maintenance.
  • Work with Maintenance to ensure clear division of operator and department maintenance activities.
  • Drive team performance through prioritization and SOP development.
  • Engage with management to ensure functional area requirements are included in SOPs.
  • Secure quality through SOP audit dialogues and execution.
  • Provide input to the annual shop budget and control team expenses.
  • Ensure team area cleanliness and implementation of cleaning routines and 5S.
  • Participate in new product development and provide input to existing product development.
  • Interface with Sales Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling, and other teams for planning and cost estimation.
  • Ensure effective and frequent communication with shop personnel.
  • Conduct daily ALPS board meetings for employee management communication and continuous improvements.
  • Foster a positive work environment and attitude among shop employees.
  • Assist Unit Manager with other tasks as needed.
  • Prioritize safety, adhere to policies, promote safe practices, and address unsafe behaviors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading multiple employees in an industrial products manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong skills in time management, attention to detail, written & verbal communications.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, Associate’s degree and/or manufacturing certifications preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of the production of air cooled and wet surface heat exchangers used in the North American oil, gas and power industries preferred.
  • Experience with systems & methodologies used in manufacturing to include 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen preferred.
  • Knowledge & understanding of financial planning and development.
  • Project work & implementation of business plans experience preferred.
  • Occasional travel as needed – 15%.
