The Production Manager will oversee subtitling operations across Australia, UK, and Spain, managing a team of subtitlers to ensure high quality and productivity. This role involves administrative duties, production coordination, and strong team leadership to drive continuous improvement and achieve client SLAs.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of subtitlers, focusing on their development and performance.
Ensure high quality and optimum productivity of subtitling within the team and wider operation.
Coordinate with Australian subtitling operations for capacity, production, and delivery.
Organize ad hoc translation output with the Spanish operation.
Identify and implement cost savings and process improvements.
Ensure effective communication flow to and from team members.
Handle record-keeping and reporting duties, including Spanish legislative compliance and payroll.
Manage recruitment and onboarding processes.
Oversee the Australian pre-recorded worklist, ensuring timely delivery.
Collaborate with Heads of Production, SDG, DM, and Resources teams.
Identify and resolve production issues and trends.
Lead and motivate team members through change and new technologies/workflows.
Manage individual and team performance, recognizing good performance and addressing poor performance.
Facilitate training needs and mentor rising stars.
Monitor and report on individual and team performance against targets and SLAs.
Champion continuous improvement of subtitling productivity and accuracy.
Administer performance reviewing processes and set productivity/accuracy targets.
Ensure health and safety for the team.

Requirements

Expertise in subtitle production.
Comprehensive understanding of Australian file workflows and service delivery metrics.
Strong knowledge of UK production and workflows, recognizing key differences between Australian and UK KPIs.
Good understanding of relationships with UK DM, Scheduling, Materials and Resources.
Intelligent appreciation of the tension between productivity requirements and quality requirements.
An ability to view relevant work issues and challenges from various perspectives.
An excellent understanding of all subtitle production and support platforms, including Subito, Quantum, Vault, Ooona, Plan Bee, ARC, Jira, Sharepoint, MS Teams and SuccessFactors.
Excellent people management and leadership skills.
Excellent oral communication skills, and a comfort with leading meetings and dealing with difficult conversations.
Excellent written communication skills, especially via email.
An ability to work positively and energetically within a team environment.
An ability to foster good relationships within Access Services.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills and good time keeping.
An understanding of wider subtitling/AS market and pertinent issues.
A drive to challenge the status quo openly and confidently.
A desire to focus on the continuous improvement of our performance and ability to compete.
An appreciation of/ability to understand key Access Service metrics, KPIs and service levels.
An ability to present, utilise and interpret performance data.
An ability to thrive under pressure and usefully interpret criticism.
