Responsibilities

  • Work on applied research problems at the intersection of PL, SE, and AI with FoSSE and Microsoft colleagues.
  • Experiment with and build tools for real-world, large code bases.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in programming languages, compilers, or related areas (PL track).
  • Interest in combining AI with PL/compiler techniques for SE at scale and with high quality (PL track).
  • Strong background in LLM post-training (e.g., RLHF, instruction tuning, alignment, evaluation) (RL track).
  • Interest in applying LLM techniques to SE (RL track).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with code migration, code translation, and static analysis.
  • Experience with reinforcement learning for large language models.
