Apple seeks a Junior Application Support & Site Reliability Engineer for its IS&T organization in Bengaluru. This entry-level role focuses on ensuring high availability, resilience, and performance of critical enterprise systems and cloud services. Responsibilities include incident triage, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, automation, and CI/CD support.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor health, performance, and capacity of mission-critical applications and services.
  • Respond to production alerts, outages, and system anomalies.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, core system, network, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Perform database-level troubleshooting, query analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Identify root causes and implement permanent fixes in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Build and refine telemetry dashboards, log aggregations, and alerting rules.
  • Track and uphold key reliability metrics (SLIs/SLOs).
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks and maintenance using scripts (Python, Bash).
  • Support production deployments, CI/CD pipeline runs, and build validations.
  • Execute production change requests following enterprise standards.
  • Leverage GenAI to accelerate log analysis, incident documentation, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of combined work experience in Application Production Support (APS), DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix internals and core system engineering concepts.
  • Programming/debugging exposure in Java and Python.
  • Familiarity with Java-based build tools (Maven, Gradle).
  • Strong debugging and querying skills with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, MySQL).
  • Hands-on exposure to observability and logging platforms (Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace).
  • Proven track record in incident management, triage, and adhering to change/configuration management processes.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Exposure to GenAI solutions and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI/GenAI tools for log analysis, script generation, and issue investigation.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker containers.
  • Foundational knowledge of Kubernetes concepts.
  • Familiarity with public or private cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Basic awareness of configuration automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
