Saab UK is seeking an Electronics Technician in Bedfordshire to provide technical support for the assembly, integration, testing, maintenance, and repair of electronic and electromechanical systems. The role involves hands-on manufacturing, troubleshooting, and ensuring high standards of quality and safety, working collaboratively with engineers.

Responsibilities

Manufacture and assemble electronic and electromechanical systems, including wiring harnesses, PCBAs, mechanical assemblies, and associated hardware.
Carry out inspection, testing, integration, and commissioning of electronic and electromechanical assemblies.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults within electronic, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
Support the modification, rework, and maintenance of prototype and production hardware.
Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, assembly instructions, and test documentation.
Assist in the installation, operation, and testing of sensors, actuators, motors, and other electromechanical devices.
Maintain accurate build, test, and inspection records.
Ensure compliance with ESD, health and safety, quality, and laboratory procedures.
Support the maintenance of laboratory equipment, tooling, and work areas.
Contribute to continuous improvement activities to enhance manufacturing quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
Support stock control and management of laboratory consumables and components.
Work collaboratively with engineers and senior technicians.

Requirements

Experience in the assembly, testing, and repair of electronic and electromechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation.
Practical experience with electronic assembly, soldering, and wiring techniques.
Experience using hand tools, workshop equipment, and electrical test instruments.
Understanding of fault-finding techniques for electrical, electronic, and electromechanical assemblies.
Awareness of ESD controls, quality standards, and safe working practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desired Qualifications

IPC certification or equivalent electronics manufacturing qualifications (Desirable).
Experience within aerospace, defence, autonomous systems or other highly regulated industries (Desirable).
Knowledge of engineering change control and configuration management processes (Desirable).
Familiarity with Civil or Military Aviation standards and regulatory requirements (Desirable).
Experience training or mentoring junior technicians and laboratory personnel (Desirable).
Experience working to 6S Methodology (Desirable).
Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) (Desirable).
