We are seeking an experienced Automation Tester for our Newcastle Advanced Technology Centre. This hybrid role requires expertise in automating functional testing of SaaS software using Java and tools like Selenium, Cucumber, and Rest-assured. The ideal candidate will also have experience with AI-assisted testing tools and defect management systems such as JIRA.

Responsibilities

Automating functional testing of SaaS software
Writing scripts in Java
Using test tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Karate, Rest-assured or Wiremock
Designing and conducting manual testing
Developing a good understanding of requirements, user needs, and solution design
Managing defects using tools like JIRA, Bugzilla or HP ALM
Using AI-assisted testing tools to generate test scripts and help triage defects
Working on large-scale transformation programmes
Building future-ready skills in cloud, data, AI and emerging technologies
Potentially spending time onsite with clients and partners

Requirements

Experience automating functional testing of SaaS software
Experience writing scripts in Java
Experience in using other test tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Karate, Rest-assured or Wiremock
Experience working with users to design and conduct manual testing
A proven track record of testing software developments in a structured environment
A complete understanding of the Defect Management lifecycle
Knowledge of one or more defect management tools e.g. JIRA, Bugzilla or HP ALM
Experience using AI-assisted testing tools to generate test scripts and help triage defects
Ability to communicate effectively with clients across a range of industry sectors
Proven history of working within a complex and diverse delivery environment
Experience working in Agile (Scrum, Kanban or SAFe) environment/teams
BPSS and SC security clearance (requires 5 years continuous UK address history)
