Qualcomm is seeking an Associate PCB CAD Specialist to join their specialized PCB Layout CAD team in San Diego. This role involves creating and managing electronic part library databases using Siemens XPedition and Cadence Allegro, ensuring adherence to manufacturing and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Create, manage, and maintain library databases for electronic parts used in PCB designs across Siemens XPedition and Cadence Allegro.
- Ensure library data conforms to manufacturing and industry standards, as well as Qualcomm design guidelines.
- Develop expertise with CAD software tools including Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Cadence Allegro, and Downstream Technologies Blueprint.
- Create and release documentation for PWB Fabrication and Assembly drawings using Blueprint.
- Communicate effectively with project peers and engineering personnel via email, Teams meetings, status reports, and presentation slides.
- Understand project goals and individual contributions.
- Read electronic specifications to accurately create library databases.
- Maintain technical coordination with Engineering and leads.
- Resolve design issues quickly and ensure all processes are followed.
Requirements
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- Ability to read mechanical constraint drawings.
- Basic understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) requirements.
- Basic understanding of electrical specifications.
- Ability to read specifications and learn quickly on the job.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge and work experience with CAD Tools used to design PWB’s (Xpedition, Allegro, PADS, Altium, other).
- Basic understanding of electronic components.
- Basic understanding of digital and analog circuits.
- Basic understanding of component placement and routing strategies.
