Position Summary-
Ensure / deliver design to cost and source to cost (by using should cost methodology) targets achievements for the BIW / Trims / HVAC / Seats & Restrain System component of New/Current programs.
Cost Engineer is responsible to develop part level target costing, prepare detailed should cost estimate and apply it to achieve design to cost and source to cost; generate and syndicate cost reduction ideas through competition teardown, benchmarking, should cost analysis, VAVE, analytical levers etc and achieve aggregate cost reduction targets with engineering and purchase; work with vehicle module teams to achieve cost targets; cross deploy the ideas across TML needs; develop category specific key components or subassemblies knowledge repository covering competition, technology, products, manufacturing processes etc and apply it in developing cost models.
Job Profile-
1.Develop target costing and establish detailed should cost estimates for the components (Casting ,Forging/ Body & Trims/ Proprietary Mechanical /Proprietary Electrical Cost and Tooling)
2.Ensure/ deliver design to cost and source to cost targets achievements for the component targets of programs.
3.Develop component/subsystem knowledge repository covering competition, technology, products, processes etc and apply it in developing cost models
4.Annual cost reduction target for the sub systems / modules
Degree in Engineering
MBA
Analyze cost pack and preparing cost estimate for an Seat & Restrains system / HVAC components
To be able to understand and review design & cost elements, technical data sheets and design calculation.
To keep ahead of new technologies and processes surrounding & manufacturers.
Have a good understanding of most of the following: Trim parts, Seat designing, airbag, seatbelt, HVAC technologies, interfacing car components, types of seats, stability analysis, vehicle network structure, RF design, vehicle safety design.
Experience of cost reduction programs will be considered as an advantage.
