Alstom is seeking an Electronic Technician in Atlanta, US, to install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical systems. The role requires strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, experience with electronic test equipment, and the ability to read technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical assemblies/sub-assemblies and systems.
- Troubleshoot electronics down to the component level to determine the cause and remedy of any malfunction.
- Perform required repairs to return the unit/system to an operational state.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to determine the root cause of the issue and recommend corrective action.
- Set up and test systems, sub-systems, and units to meet specified requirements.
- Recognize failures and set up problems, isolate problems, and take appropriate action to resolve those problems.
- Operate oscilloscopes, generators, meters, power supplies, service monitors, and test fixtures, and understand their use and function.
- Keep Supervisor informed of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect production schedules.
- May conduct detailed experimental testing.
- Perform electronic & mechanical assembly.
- Install components, units, and printed circuit boards following specifications.
- Make adjustments or repairs according to written specifications.
- Fabricate parts, cables, and test fixtures.
- Maintain and write work procedures and related documentation for each task performed.
- Perform other job duties as required.
Requirements
- Possess problem-solving skills, strong digital skills, analog skills, and the ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner.
- Familiar with linear and non-linear theory, parallel and series circuits, Ohm's law, and other electronic theory.
- Possess clear, verbal, and written communication.
- Must have experience using the following equipment: DVM, oscilloscopes, recorders, hand tools (such as soldering irons, hand crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers).
- Must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- An Associate’s Degree or 4+ years equivalent technical experience and/or military technical training is required.
Desired Qualifications
- Troubleshooting skills (to component level is most desirable, but not required).
- Experience using Digital Volt Meter, Oscilloscope, Reading Schematics, Hand Tools and Small Power Tools.
- Experience using standard electronic test equipment.
- Prior education, training & knowledge of basic electronic circuitry and diagnosis.
- Problem-solving skills along with digital, analog, and mechanical experience.
- Ability to multitask is desirable.
