Seeking a Principal System Lead to define and optimize next-generation mobile system solutions, focusing on multimedia subsystems within the Android ecosystem. This role involves close engagement with OEMs and hands-on work with hardware, software, and IP teams to translate requirements into concrete system architectures, emphasizing power efficiency, performance, and sustained operation.

Responsibilities

Analyze new and evolving OEM use cases across camera, video encode/decode, display pipelines, graphics, gaming, and always-on multimedia scenarios.
Propose system-level architectural improvements and optimizations for next-generation product planning, focusing on power-aware multimedia processing and sustained performance.
Perform hands-on trade-off analysis across power, performance, latency, thermal limits, and memory bandwidth.
Influence architectural decisions across multimedia pipelines, compute subsystems, memory hierarchies, and power management.
Work closely with core systems, hardware design, software, and product teams to align system architecture with product roadmaps.
Partner with OEM-facing and software teams to ensure customer requirements are reflected in system and architectural decisions.
Tackle complex, open-ended system problems using first-principles thinking and data-driven analysis.
Identify gaps and inefficiencies across the multimedia hardware/software boundary and propose innovative system-level solutions.
Contribute to Qualcomm’s intellectual property portfolio through invention disclosures and patent filings.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or related work experience.
8+ years of experience in one or more areas of semiconductor product development.
5+ years in a technical leadership role.
Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
8–10 years of experience in semiconductor product development, including system design, architecture, hardware design and validation.
A minimum of 3 years of experience making trade-offs between product key performance indicators (KPIs) and costs.
At least 5 years of experience working within a large, matrixed organization.
3 or more years of experience in a role that involves direct interaction with senior leadership.
