Sandvik is seeking an Operative Buyer in Pune, India, to ensure supply continuity, manage supplier performance, and optimize procurement terms. The role requires experience in heavy steel fabrication, using MRP systems, and strong organizational skills to meet demanding deadlines in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Provide purchasing and procurement support ensuring production continuity and efficiency.
Identify and address actual and potential supply shortages, taking ownership of remedial actions.
Raise purchase orders in line with demand and company policy.
Manage design changes, re-specifications, pricing, ordering, and delivery of parts.
Expedite procured items to minimize production disruption.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of procurement data.
Collate internal customer feedback on supplier performance.
Manage a portfolio of suppliers and implement performance improvement plans.
Undertake procurement projects to drive down prices and ensure value.
Support sourcing activities for items based on "fit, form, and function".
Maintain a tidy working environment and participate in the EHS program.

Requirements

Experience in handling Heavy Steel Fabrication.
Previous experience as a buyer in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to monitor supplier performance against set KPIs.
Ability to identify upcoming supply risks and take action to avoid them.
Experience using an MRP system.
Previous experience of working in a changing and pressurized role with demanding deadlines.
Good planning, time management, and organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications

Degree educated in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field preferred or professionally qualified to an equivalent level – CIPS level 6.
Candidates with significant relevant procurement and sourcing experience will be considered in place of formal degree qualifications.
