In short

This Master's thesis investigates learning embodiment-aware autonomous driving policies using deep learning and imitation learning. The research aims to adapt policies from passenger vehicles to heavy-duty trucks, exploring how vehicle configuration conditioning improves generalization and data efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop or extend a motion-planning policy incorporating vehicle-configuration information.
  • Evaluate transfer-learning strategies for adapting policies from passenger vehicles to heavy-duty vehicle configurations.
  • Investigate combining driving data from multiple vehicle configurations within a unified learning framework.
  • Implement, train, and evaluate proposed solutions for generalization, data efficiency, and driving performance.

Requirements

  • Master (civilingenjör) in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or applied mathematics.
  • Specialization in artificial intelligence algorithms preferred.
  • Proficiency in deep learning and imitation learning techniques.
  • Familiarity with motion planning and transfer learning strategies.
  • Ability to implement, train, and evaluate machine learning models.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior research or project experience in autonomous driving or robotics.
  • Experience with specific deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Understanding of vehicle dynamics and kinematics.
  • Knowledge of multi-embodiment learning concepts.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to get closer to TRATON Group R&D.
  • Build relationships for the future.
  • Work on cutting-edge autonomous driving technology.
  • Thesis project contributing to industry advancements.
